Objective: To discuss the expression and significance of Importin13in the cases of normal endometrium, endometriosis and endometrial cancer. Methods: Twenty cases of normal proliferative phase endometriumwere divided into the control group A while20cases of normal secretoryphase endometrium were selected as the control group B. Twenty cases ofthe endometriosis and20cases of endometrial cancer were respectivelychose as the experimental group C and the experimental group D. Theexpression of Importin13was detected by immunohistochemistry andWestern blot. The Importin13and other accepted markers ofstem/progenitor cell, including CD34, CD45, telomerase, oct4, c-kit,PDGF-Rβ, CD90and CD146, were determined by using double stainingimmunofluorescence. The level of Importin13mRNA was quantified byusing fluorogenic quantitative PCR (FQ-PCR).Results: Importin13was found in all groups with a significantexpression in group A as well as group D and a weak expression in group B.Compared the number of Importin13positive cells in other groups with it in the group B,the group Dwas the most, and followed in turn by group A,group C,and. Importin13was co-expression with telomerase, CD34, CD45,oct4,c-kit, PDGF-Rβ, CD90and CD146in the glandular epithelial cells andstromal cells of all groups. The level of Importin13mRNA expressed in theexperimental groups were obviously higher than that the control group B(P<0,01). The protein level of Importin13was significantly higher in theexperimental groups than the control group B(P<0,01).Conclusions: Importin13expressed in the proliferative phase of thenormal endometrium was higher than the secretory phase. The level ofImportin13expressed in endometriosis and endometrial cancer wassignificantly higher than that in the normal secretory phase endometrium. We supposed that the proliferation of endometrial stem cells’ abnormaltissue was related to the formation of the above two diseases. It suggestedthat the Importin13could be taken as a candidate marker of endometrialstem cells.
