Objective: To analyze the prognosis and prognostic factors of the young people withgastric cancer after radical surgery. Methods:A total of66young patients(less than35years old) with gastric cancer whounderwent radical gastrectomy in our depaertment from Journey2003to December2010were retrospectively analyzed.Univariate and multivariate analysis were used tostudy the related factors. Kaplan-Meier method was applied to analyze survival rates, and Log-rank test was performed to assess statistical significance,P<0.05meansstatistical significance.Results:Among66patients,43cases died and23patients are still alive at the end ofpayareturnvisit date. The median survival time was33.5months.The overall survivalrate for1,3,5years are87.7%,53.9%,33.6%.The results of univariate analysisindicated that tumor size TNM stages, number of metastatic nodes, depth of tumorinvasion, were related prognostic factors, The results of multivariate analysis indicatedthat TNM stages, number of metastatic nodes, depth of invasion, were recognized assignificant independent prognostic factors(P<0.05).Conclusion: Tumor size is related with prognosis, but it is not a significantindependent prognostic factor. TNM stages, number of metastatic nodes, depth oftumor invasion, can be recognized as three significant independent prognostic factors, among them TNM stages is the most important fact, number of metastatic nodes isthe second.
