The Research On The Therapy Of Nourishing Yin And Tonifying The Kidney As Well As Resolving Phlegm Stasis In Treating Nodular Goiter

Objective:Through the scientific and standard clinical trials, observe the clinical effects in treating nodular goiter by nourishing yin and tonifying the kidney as well as resolving phlegm stasis.Methods:This research was based on60cases of outpatients with Yin deficiency of liver and kidney and were randomly divided into two groups. One group was the experimental group,30patients of which were treated with nourishing yin and tonifying the kidney as well as resolving phlegm stasis. The other group was the control group, with30patients being treated with thyroxine tablets. Two groups were given this disease health education, a reasonable diet, moderate exercise, to maintain ease of mind. These patients all met the diagnosis criterion. Both groups were treated for four weeks. The changes of clinical symptoms before and after treatment and after two month of untreatment were detected respectively to evaluate the therapeutic effects and safety inspection.Results:1. In the experimental group,5cases recovered and8cases significantly improved,12cases improved,5ineffectual cases. The total effective rate in the experimental group is83.33%. In the control group1cases recovered and3cases significantly improved,14cases improved,12ineffectual cases. The total effective rate in the control group is60.00%. There is a significant difference in the total effective rate between the experimental group and control guoup in the statistics (P<0.05). The effective rate from the treatment group is clearly superior.2.The symptoms and signs of the two groups are significantly decreased, but the degree of symptomatic improvement of experimental group is better than the control group (P<0.05); in improving goiter, Yaoxisuanruan, tongue, pulse, the experimental group is better than the control group (**P<0.01).3. The total symptoms of the two groups are significantly decreased, but in improving symptoms the experimental group is much better than the control group (**P<0.01).4. The two groups of goiter have improved, but the experimental group is better than control group (P<0.05).5. After the treatment, each index comparison of the two groups have differences (P<0.05). The two groups of thyroid nodule biggest diameter, number of nodules are reduced, but the reduction of degree in the experimental group are larger than in control group (P<0.05). In FT3, FT4, TSH the experimental group have no difference (P>0.05), and the control group have difference (P<0.05) before and after treatment.6. In the observation, the two groups were not found significant side effects.Conclusion:The therapy of nourishing yin and tonifying the kidney as well as resolving phlegm stasis is more effective to eliminate or improve the clinical symptoms, signs. It has a good security and there are no significant effect on the thyroid function.
