OBJECTIVE:To investigate the plasma visfatin levels and its clinical significance in kidney transplant recipients.METHODS:34uremic patients and287kidney transplant recipients were enrolled in our study between April2011and September2011, the kidney transplant recipients were classified into different groups according to the time of kidney transplant. The clinical indexes were recorded and the biochemical indicators were tested, the plasma visfatin levels were tested by euzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) were calculated according to the simplified version of the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) formula.RESULTS:The eGFR were significantly developed and the plasma visfatin levels were lower after kidney transplantat. There was a positive correlation between the plasma visfatin levels and serum creatinine (r=0.32, P<0.01), a negative correlation with eGFR(r=-0.24, P<0.01).CONCLUSION:With significant improvement in graft function after kidney transplant, the plasma visfatin levels decreased accordingly, and correlated with eGFR and SCr.Compared to short-term recipients, those who had transplanted overone year had more lower plasma visfatin levels.
