Background and objective:Anthracycline is an effective drugs that are widely used in breast cancer treatment,Previous studies have demonstrated that exposure to lower-dose anthracycline induces a progressive decreased in cardiac function.Dexrazoxane(dex) showed a statistically significant benefit in preventing heart damage,mostly in adults with advance breast cancer. The goal of this study was to assess left ventricular function and twist with velocity vector imaging(VVI) among breast cancer patients undergoing doxorubicins therapy,not undergoing anthracycline therapy,undergoing doxorubicins and dexrazoxane therapy.Methods:60breast cancer patients have been operated, including three groups,control group:20patients,5days after operation, not undergoing epirubicins therapy,chemotherapy group:20patients,undergoing epiorubicins therapy,dex group:20patients, undergoing epirubicins and dexrazoxane therapy,enchocardiographic images of the short axis were processed by VVI software to measure left ventricle systolic velocity(Vs),systolic peak strain (Sp) and peak strain rate(SRp), peak apical rotation (PAr), and peak basal rotation (PBr) in systole.(peak twist(Ptw)=peak apical rotation-peak basal rotation)Result:From the regional wall motion analysis using VVI in the left ventricle,compared with control group and DEX group, the chemotherapy group Sp, SRp, Vs, and PAr,PBr,Ptw decreased significantly (P<0.05).the DEX group compared with control group,most regions wall’s Sp, SRp and Vs decreased significantly (P<0.05),and the PAr,PBr, Ptw decreased significantly (P<0.05).the DEX group compared with chemotherapy group,the DEX gruop Sp,SRp,Vs and PAr,PBr,Ptw all increased significantly(p<0.05).Conclusion:Anthracycline therapy, even low-dose, can induce changes in regional wall function before global dysfunction. Dexrazoxane can prevent and reduce cardical injury, Also, the strain and SR obtained from VVI may be useful for early detection of these changes.
