Abstract/Summary:
Objective To observe the clinical effect of scarring-moxibustion therapy on ST36acupoint in treating diarrhea irritable bowel syndrome, and investigated the workingmechanism of colon disfunction. Methods This study included the parts of animalexperiments and human experiments. Divided40patients into2groups in the humanexperiments. Group one is treated with scarring-moxibustion therapy. Group two is treatedwith acupuncture therapy. The question of adequate relief and irritable bowel symptomseverity score were counted for an evaluation of the therapeutic effects. Wistar female ratshave been used in this study, and post infectious irritable bowel syndrome(PI-IBS) modelwas selected in the animal experiments. We were prepared to observe the contractile activity ofthe colonic smooth muscle strips before and after scarring-moxibustion therapy on ST36acupoint.Results The question of adequate relief and irritable bowel symptom severity score havegreat significance difference before and between control group and treat group(P<0.05or P<0.01).Comparing with IBS model group, the contractile amplitude, frequency and tension of uterine smoothmuscle strips is obviously reduced after scarring-moxibustion therapy. ConclusionsScarring-moxibustion therapy on ST36acupoint has fairly good clinical effectiveness fordiarrhea irritable bowel syndrome, inhibited the colon contractile activity and improved the timeof defection.
