Clinical Study On Treatment Of Pneumoconiosis With Xuanfei Dichen Tang

Object: To observe the effect of Xuanfei Dichen Tang on clinical symptoms and signs,six-minute walking test and pulmonary function for the patients with pneumoconiosis.Methods: Sixty patients with pneumoconiosis were randomly divided into twogroups. Thirty patients in the test group were treated with Xuanfei Dichen Tang withprinciple of ventilating lung and eliminating pathogens, resolving phlegm and activatingblood in addition to conventional therapy, while other thirty patients in the control groupwere treated with conventional therapy. The treatment course for two groups was threemonths. The changes of clinical symptoms and signs, six-minute walking test andpulmonary function of the patients before and after treatment in the two groups were underclose observation.Result: The clinical data analysis show that there was significant statistical differencebetween the two groups(P<0.05), the obvious effective rate of the test group was70%andthe total effective rate was96.7%.The results before and after treatment and between thetwo groups were comparable. The clinical symptoms and signs of test group after treatmentincluding chest distress，shortness of breath, cough, expectoration and chest pain werebetter than those before treatment. There was significant statistical differenc（eP<0.05）.Theresults of treatment group after treatment including six-minute walking distance, dyspneaindex and blood oxygen saturation were better than those before treatment. There wassignificant statistical difference （P<0.05）.The results of FEV1%and FEV1/FVC%in thetest group after treatment were better than those before treatment and at the same time itwas better than those after treatment in the control group. The statistical difference wassignificant（P<0.05）.Conclusion: Modified Xuanfei Dichen Tang with principle of ventilating lung and eliminating pathogens, resolving phlegm and activating blood has functions of relievingthe clinical symptoms, better the pulmonary ventilation function, increasing the exercisetolerance and improving the quality of life for the patients with pneumoconiosis.
