Objective:To obervise the clinical effect of modified transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion with single side pedicle-rods fixation for the treatment of far lateral lumbar disc herniation. Methods:Form October2009to October2011,we performed modified TLIF with single side pedicle-rods for21patients diagnosed as far lateral lumbar disc herniation. The results were compared and analyzed statistically by the score of lumbar JOA score and Visual Analogue Score(VAS) between pre-operation and post-operation.Result:All the cases were followed up for3-18months.The lumbar score of JOA of pre-operation was10.01±2.463,which was lower than those of post-operation25.19±2.719(t=-30.326,p<0.01);The VAS of pre-operation was8.76±0.984,which was higher than those of post-operation1.82±0.947(t=38.187,p<0.01).Conclusion:The operation of modified TLIF with single side pedicle-rods fixation for the treatment of far lateral lumbar disc herniation is an effective method of treatment, which has less complications and satisfactory clinical result.
