Study On The Effect Of Acupuncture At Shen-mai(St66)on Brain Electrical Activity Mapping Of Young Healthy People

Objective:BAEP topographic instrument for continuous observati on of acupunctu-re at Shen-Mai point at different periods of ti me for young-healthy people changes in brain electrical activity mapping(BEAP), discussion on the effect of acupuncture at She n-Mai point on brain electrical activity mapping and time depen dence,to provide a basis for clinical treatment of insomnia by a cupuncture at Shen-Mai point.Methods:Random selection of90Young healthy volunteers(54males and36females,ages18-24Years old,average22.00±1.58. No history of tobacco,alcohol).In a quiet environment,The BEAP topographic apparatus was used for the initial screening.The pa rticipants are divided into two groups.The A group(a Alpha wav e crowd advantage)and the B Group((3Beta wave crowd advanta ge).Two groups of subjects were given acupuncture in seated po sition to the bilateral Shen-Mai point.Brain electrical activity m apping was observed:before acupuncture;at time of insertion of needle;retaining the needle for30minutes then removed;After15minutes of acupuncture being removed. Recording of the brain occipital a(Alpha) and β(Beta)waves were observed for changes in frequency,amplitude and for statistical analysis.Results:Acupuncture at Shen-Mai point,the brain occipital β (B e ta)wave amplitude had highly significant changes observed at ret aining the needle for30minutes compared with before acupunct ure statistically (P<0.01).Observations after15Minutes of acupun cture being removed(after acupuncture45Minutes) compared wit h before acupuncture;the brain occipital β(Beta) Wave also had significant changes(P<0.01)Retaining the needle for30minutes c ompared with before acupuncture.the brain occipital (3(Beta) wav e frequencies has a very significant changes (P<0.01),after15Minutes of acupuncture being removed(acupuncture after45min utes) compared to before acupuncture,the brain occipital β(Beta) wave frequencies had a very highly significant statistic chang es(P<0.05).Conclusions:1. During the acupuncture at Shen-Mai point can s ignificantly increase the brain occipital (3(Beta) wave amplitude, and has significant residual effects.2. During the acupuncture at Shen-Mai point can significantly re duce the brain occipital β (Beta) Frequency of the wave,and the re are some residual effects.3. During the acupuncture at Shen-Mai point can not significan tly increase or reduce the brain occipital β(Beta) wave amplitud e and β (Beta) Frequency.
