Objective:To analyse radiographic parameters and perioperative parameters of thenew internal fixation with USS system for treatment of single segment thoracolubarfractures and to compare it with traditional operation method. Methods: We collected48cases which were diagnosed as unstable single segmentthoracolumbar fracture without serious neurologic defictits and treated in the firstpeople’s hospital of ChenZhou from January of2009to Novembar of2011. All caseswere follow-up for12months. Twenty-three cases in group A were treated with USSsystem by percutaneous operation method. Twenty-five cases in group B were treatedwith USS system by traditional operation method. The preoperative and postoperativeradiographic parameters and perioperative parameters were examined retrospectively.Radiographic parameters were vertebral anterior margin height, measured Cobb angle, injured vertebrae angle, occupation rate of spinal canal. Perioperative parameters wereoprerative time, intraoprerative blood loss, total incision length, postoperative bloodloss, length of hospital stay, pain relief. The statistical software SPSS19.0were usedto analyze the data. Comparison of radiographic parameter and perioperativeparameters between two groups were analyzed with random complete block designt-test. The parameters changes within12months in the same group were comparedwith paired design t-test.Result:1. The total incision length, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative bloodloss, length of hospital stay in group A are significantly different from that of group B(p<0.05). The operative time in group A are no significantly different from that ofgroup B (p>0.05).2. In group A, all cases got obvious recovery of vertebral anterior margin height,Cobb angle, injured vertebrae angle, occupation rate of spinal canal, pain relief(VAS),compared with preoperative parameters were very significantly different(p<0.05).3. The postoperative radiographic parameters between two groups in one weekand12months follow-up have significantly difference (p<0.05).4. The VAS between two groups in one week,6months,and12months follow-uphave significantly difference (p<0.05).5. No screws loosening, breakage and withdrawing and no infection happened inall cases after12months follow-up.Conclusion:PPSF with USS system is an effective method for unsable singlesegment toracolumber fractures without obvious serious neurologic defictits.Compared traditional method, This microinvasive technique has the characteristic ofless trauma, faster recovery.
