Clinical Observation Of Treatment With Shen Ying Yang Zhen Dan Compound308-nm Excimer Lamp For The Blood Deficiency And Wind Dryness Type Of Alopecia Areata

Background:Alopecia areata is a common disease of unknown etiology in dermatology. Of the various managements, ultraviolet irradiation is one of the most effective treatment. Recently,308nm excimer lamp has been introduced into the treatment of alopecia areata.Its mechanism can be interpreted as the induction of T-cell apoptosis, inhibition of cytokine production influence on antigen-presentating cells,and so on [1]. Based on the syndrome differentiation, there is affirmative efficacy in treating alopecia areata with TCM, which can obtain satisfactory efficacy.Objective:To observe the efficacy of the treatment with Shen ying yang zhen Dan compound308nm excimer lamp for blood deficiency and wind drynesstype of alopecia areata.Methods:45patients with alopecia areata from the out-patients of a hospital of TCM in Jiangsu Provine were involved in the study and radomly divided into3groups. Group Ⅰ:15cases with22patches were treated with Shen ying yang zhen Dan compound308nm excimer lamp;Group Ⅱ:15cases with23patches were treated with308nm excimer lamp;Group Ⅲ:the other15cases with15patches were treated with Shenyingyangzhen Dan.The pills were taken5g twice a day while irradiance twice a week for12weeks.All the patches were photographed and imitated before and after the treatment.Meanwhile, the adverse effects were recorded.Results:1. Group Ⅰ15patients(6male.9female).the average age of the patients is43.40years,the mean course of disease is11.67months;Group Ⅱ15patients(6male,9female),the average age of the patients is38.73years,the mean course of disease is11.47months;Group Ⅲ15patients(7male,8female),the average age of the patients is36.47years,the mean course of disease is12.67months;2.22lesions affecting the scalp in Group Ⅰ were studied,Results recovered13lesions,having an effect in5lesions.effective in2lesions,invalid1,with a total effective rate of81.8%;23lesions affecting the scalp in Group Ⅱ were studied,Results recovered6lesions,having an effect in6lesions,effective in7lesions,invalid4,with a total effective rate of52.2%;15lesions affecting the scalp in Group Ⅲ were studied,Results recovered1lesions,having an effect in2lesions,effective in6lesions,invalid6,with a total effective rate of20.0%.3.No significant adverse reaction in the lesions were observed in the treatment.Conclusions: 1.The hair growth rate of Shenyingyangzhen Dan combined with308nm excimer lamp is better than308nm excimer lamp or Shenyingyangzhen Dan alone, while308nm excimer lamp is more efficient than Shenyingyangzhen Dan;2.there was significant difference among the curative effect’s score of the three groups(p>0.05);3.During the treatment.there was no significant difference between two clinical stages(p>0.05);4.The efficacy of Shenyingyangzhen Dan combined with308nm excimer lamp is better than308nm excimer lamp or Shenyingyangzhen Dan alone, while308nm excimer lamp is more efficient than Shenyingyangzhen Dan;5.There was significant difference in the cumulative UVB doses between the Shenyingyangzhen Dan combined with308nm excimer lamp and308nm excimer lamp(p<0.05)...
