Objective:To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of electro-acupuncture(EA) and manual acupuncture(MA) and analyze their therapeutic features respectively.Method:144cases of patients with depression were randomly divided into three groups:medication group54cases(treated with SSRIs solely),MA group44cases(MA+SSRIs) and EA group46cases(EA+SSRIs).Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) total scores and changes in each factor score of three groups,Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) total scores and Rating Scale for Side Effects(SERS) total scores were observed respectively in pre-, post-treatment(1,2,4,6week) and the follow-up4th week.Result:1.Clinical Curative Effect Comparison:Compared with medication group,EA group and MA group both showed differences in total effective rate and the cure and marked effectiveness rate(p<0.05,p<0.01),while there was no difference between themself(p>0.05).2.HAMD total scores Comparison:The HAMD total scores of MA and EA group were significantly lower than medication group after1week treatment(p<0.05,p<0.01),and the advantage remained until6week after treatment. There was still difference between EA group and medication group till the follow-up4th week(p<0.01),while no difference beween EA group and MA group(p>0.05).3.HAMD factor score:Compared with medication group, EA group and MA group both showed differences the first week after treatment in four aspects of HAMD factor score, including anxiety or somatization symptom, somnipathy, recognition and blockage(p<0.05,p<0.01).From the aspect of recognition,it showed difference between MA group and medication group only in the first week(p<0.05),and EA group showed an advantage over MA group in the second week(p<0.05).There were still difference between EA group,MA group and medication group in the factor of anxiety or somatization symptom.4.Comparison with SDS total scores:EA and MA group is less than medication group after1week treatment(P<0.05, P<0.01); This difference continued to follow-up1months (P<0.01). while no difference beween EA group and MA group (P>0.05); SDS deducted rate:Compared with medication group, EA group and MA group both showed differences in6th week, followed-up4th week (P<0.01). EA and MA compared without difference (P>0.05).5.SERS total scores comparison:SERS total score inEA, MA1week went from drug group compared with differences (P<0.01). Show the Acupuncture-medication combination the advantages of the drugs reduce the side effects. EA and MA SERS side effects there were no score difference (P>0.05).Coclusion:Acupuncture-medication combination is superior to medication solely in treating depression.Compared with MA.EA shows an advantage in improving some factors score and prostecdtive efficacy, and it deserves further research.
