Object: Explore the clinical value of retained lens anterior capsule in thevitrectomy.Methods:15cases (15eyes) from Eye Center of the Second Bethunehospital,Jilin University were selected, who were undergone surgery ofretention of anterior lens capsule and vitrectomy by the same surgeon fromMay2005to December2011. The clinical data of these cases wereretrospective study in order to assess the efficacy of combined surgery ofretention of anterior lens and vitrectomy. Results: The postoperative inflammatory reaction was mild in all15patients, early increased intraocular pressure returned to normal in7cases afterdrug treatment. Capsule was found varying degrees of opacity in some patientsin the postoperative follow-up. Cutting the iris by YAG laser based on thedegree of opacity did not affect the observation of the fundus and the posteriorpole retinal laser photocoagulation treatment. if the line of peripheral retinallaser condensate, the first capsule opacification, or affect the lasereffect.Recurrent retinal detachment was found in two cases during follow-upafter silicone oil injection, and opacification, shrinkage of the retained anteriorlens capsule be found, the two cases was treated by the anterior capsule tear inaddition to the silicone oil removal, retinal repair and silicone oil tamponade.intraocular lens implantation was performed in2eyes, one was combined withvitrectomy, the other was comined with silicone oil removal surgery. Conclusions: Vtrectomy with retained lens anterior capsule can protectthe corneal endothelium.Vitrectomy with retained lens anterior capsule canmaximize the retention of the normal physiological barrier in the eye, and canavoid some complications in patients, who was usually undergone with intraoperative lens cutting duing vitrectomy and postoperative intraocularsilicone oil or gas tamponade. Vitrectomy with retained anterior lens capsuleretains the normal form of the iris, can reduce the incidence of irisneovascularization and neovascular glaucoma. Retained anterior lens capsule ishelpful to intraocular lens implantation because the anterior lens capsule cansupport the artificial lens implanted in the ciliary sulcus. Completed eliminationof epithelial cells in the anterior lens capsule is crucial in surgery.
