Objective To study the central line bundle for reducing the PICC catheter relatedbloodstream infections (CRBSI) in very low birth weight infant. Methods We used a total of214VLBW in the NICU who were Inserted PICC fromJuly2010to January2012as the research object; and divided them intocontrol group and CLB group according to the principle of randomsampling. PICC to take control group, the general clinical nursing practice;the CLB group to include hand hygiene, sterile barrier to maximize theeffective assessment, skin preparation, the choice of catheter position, aseries of cluster nursing care. Observed in patients with body temperature, blood picture, blood cultures and semi-quantitative catheter tip culture testresults and other indicators. Compared with CRBSI incidence of twogroups. Results The incidence of CRBSI in the control group was7.4Per1000catheter day,and the incidence of CRBSI in the central line bundle group was2.1Per1000catheter day, two groups of comparisons difference was statisticallysignificant (χ2=9.144,P﹤0.05).Conclusions The central line bundle is simple and can reduce PICC catheter relatedbloodstream infections in VLBW significantly.
