PurposeHyperthyroidism is one of the most common endocrine disorders.Studies show that common factors such as stressful lifestyles, unhealthy diets and mental stress attributes to the rising rates of hyperthyroidism. Modern medicine whereas relate the cause of this disorder to other factors such as individual’s immunity, hereditary and mental stimulation. Accelerated thyroid hormone secretion results in the damage of other systems in the body such as the artery, digestive, blood and other internal secretion. Serious hyperthyroidism patients also experience palpitations. Clinical studies state that increased level of anxiety, deficiency in tissue metabolism and an enlarged thyroid gland are some signs of hyperthyroidism. Researches over recent years have shown that middle-aged women are more prone to hyperthyroidism. With the fast moving pace of modern society, the number of hyperthyroidism is on the rise and treatment is complicated while recurrence is common. Patients with recurring hyperthyroidism show negative acceptance to treatment drugs, accompanied by complications such as liver damage and decrease in white blood cells which may result in death in more serious cases. Therefore the cure and prevention for hyperthyroidism carries a stronger significance. While Western medicine has proven to treat hyperthyroidism with much satisfaction, disadvantages of side effects and recurrence are also noted. Professor Li Sai Mei has spent a long time of clinical studies on the prevention and cure for hyperthyroidism using Chinese medicine. Through accumulated theoretical knowledge and practical experiences, she has used the combination of Western and Chinese medicine to treat hyperthyroidism. Methods 1) Criteria①In line with the diagnostic standard of Western medicine hyperthyroidism②January2011-December2011:Patient diagnosed with hyperthyroidism by Prof. Li Sai Mei accepted into the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Endocrinology)③Hyperthyroidism patients age between18-76year old with a stable job and lifestyle who is willing assist with the study of hyperthyroidism2) Treatment processSpecially designed observation and treatment for patients who meet criteria Chinese medicine with a combination of small dose of Western medicine to be given three times daily (morning, noon and night)(i) Received a significant effect, better than western medicine alone, now mentor experience by the Treatment, the Zhongjing typhoid six by the diagnosis and treatment system as a guide to further explore hyperthyroidism (referred to as hyperthyroidism) of TCM syndrome distribution law andsix Classics dialectical correlation to provide an objective frame of reference for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of hyperthyroidism.3) Observation measures①Use of self-prepared Hyperthyroidism clinical observation sheet(see attachment1); clinical symptoms record table(see attachment2), various check-up standards(see attachment3), Hyperthyroidism drugs and other drugs usage record sheet(see attachment4)②The above observations of standards to be recorded before, during and after treatment once respectively. Comments/feedback to be given after treatment: complete recovery, signs of recovery, effectiveness and non-effectivenessResult①Comparison of symptoms before and during treatment process, during and after treatment process, before and after treatment process (see attachment6). Improvement of symptoms calculated statistically. Statistics also show improvement in irritability, tremor, hands tremor, fatigue, five upset hot, evil fever symptoms, P<0.05and P<0.01, with statistical significance.②As for the hyperthyroidism gold standard thyroid function five measured before and after treatment group blood of TSH, TT3, TT4and FT3, the FT4their difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). tsh before treatment and the treatment of the p-value greater than0.05, in the treatment of non-significant difference, but after treatment than before treatment. This shows that the combination treatment of combined treatment method treatment to effectively reduce the role of thyroid hormone before and after treatment by the side of the Chinese and Western medicine.③Stages of treatment of hyperthyroidism is often associated with the performance of multiple body systems, in which the blood system more performance to reduce the total number of white blood cells and neutropenia and anti-thyroid drug methimazole or propylthiouracil, antithyroid western medicinerash of drug fever leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis psychosis major adverse Professor Li by the side of Chinese medicine treatment, antithyroid western medicine volume minus half the conventional dose, supplemented inosine piece, after treatmentreview of the white blood cells, neutrophils, platelets, liver function abnormalities decreased in the number of zero. Comparison was statistically significant. Here you can see the advantages of integrative medicine.④Both lobes of goiter vertical diameter, transverse diameter, anteroposterior diameter of the three-path, before and after treatment, two leaves in the value of the diameter of no significant difference (P>0.05), but statistically significant in the vertical diameter of the diameter of the value of improved(P<0.01), the anteroposterior diameter of<0.01, the left lobe of P<0.05are total significance. Prompt treatment of goiter diameter value and volume to clinical improvement, mainly to improve the vertical diameter and the diameter of diameter values, no obvious improvement in the transverse diameter.Conelus ionIn the treatment of60cases, clinical recovery,4cases (6.67%) were cured,43cases (71.67%), effective in8cases (13.33%), ineffective in5cases (8.33%), the total efficiency of91.67%, the level of thyroid hormonedecreased significantly. And effectively reduce the side effects, a major feature of which Professor Li Saimei treatment of hyperthyroidism.
