Background:Pelvic Organ Prolapse(POP) is an common disease in women, the incidence of disease in parous women is about50%, It serious impact the quality of life of Women, including incontinentia urinae, fecal incontinence and sexual desire disorders, POP is viewed as a global disease effecting women’s health.Surgery is the main method to treat POP, In the POP patients, the proportion of each year for surgery about ten over ten thousand to thirty, Which of all kinds of vaginal Colporrhaphy is regarded as the gold standard for POP。 However with about30%would recrudesce, In recent years, using mesh to treat POP get the majority of patients recognition because of lower rate of recurrence and less bleeding loss, However, the strengths and weaknesses of mesh and traditional operation is still controversal continuously, Even some studies reported some of the serious complications on mesh. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of traditional operation and using mesh on treatment POP by the meta analysis, thereby provide reference for clinical work. Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of traditional operation and using mesh on treatment POP by the meta analysis. Methods:We searched the following databases from their inception to October2011: The Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE,CBMdisc, CNKI, CQVIP. The index words will be:pelvic organ prolapse, POP, vaginal prolapse and Mesh. Include criteria: Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) that compared traditional colporrhaphy with using Mesh to treat pelvic organ prolapse, two researchers will independently extracted the data and evaluate the literature quality, and analyzed them by meta-analysis. Main Results:Quoting five RCTs, results of meta-analysis show that:using Mesh to treat pelvic organ prolapse didn’t improve the success rate of surgery [RR=1.09,95%CI (0.58,2.02), p=0.79],and didn’t decrease the POP-Q stage of following surgery [MD=0.11,95%CI (-0.15,0.36),p=0.41],the sexual dysfunction [OR=1.25,95%CI (0.54,2.87), p=0.60]and recurrence rate [RR=0.76,95%CI(0.10,5.28), p=0.78].Conclusion:The present proofs show that Mesh can’t increase the objective success rate of surgery by comparing with traditional colporrhaphy, it also can’t decrease POP-Q stage and infection of following surgery, demanding economical evaluation and research of applicability to guide clinical practice.
