The Application Of Radio Frequency Ablation In The Treatment Of Renal Tumors

Purpose:To investigate the technology of radio frequency ablation (RFA) applied in the treatment of renal tumors, and evaluate its therapeutic efficacy.Methods:Get the message of the principle and application methods of radio frequency ablation in treating renal tumors by referring to some papers. And there are eight patients who received the treatment of radio frequency ablation for their renal tumors between January2011and December2011. Their average age is forty-five, the diameter of their renal tumors is between1.5and5cm, and the average is3cm. Among these patients, five patients received the laparoscopic RFA of renal tumors, two received open surgery RFA of renal tumors, and one received percutaneous puncture RFA of renal tumors.Results:All the operations are accomplished successfully, and the duration of these operations is between60and90minutes, the blood loss is between50and150ml, all the patients didn’t need blood transfusion. After the operations, only one patient appeared to have the complications of circumrenal hematoma, urine leakage, and PUJ obstruction; the other patients didn’t have any complication. The follow-up time for these patients is about3to6months, and none of them have found any sign for tumor recurrence or metabasis.Conclusions:For the small renal tumors, the technology of RFA has many advantages:its therapeutic efficacy has been confirmed, it can be used in more patients than the nephron sparing surgery, the inhospital time of patients is less, its operation is easier, it can reserve more renal function, more patients can tolerate it, and so on. As a result, the RFA will be used more and more in treating small renal tumors.
