With development of social economic, the height of buildings in cities is getting to be increased so that the depth of foundation excavation is increased accordly. The excavation site is narrow in space area as buildings have been constucted arround its surroundings. The different complicate pipelines in underground which need to be protected will make it more strictlty in requirements of the stability and the deformation. Considered only from the strength and stability theory has been agreement difficultly with the requirements of foundation excavation desighn in the complex environment, many projects need to be consodered in deformation control. Produce a shift in the deep foundation works will pit the surrounding soil, the pit bottom soil uplift the surrounding surface deposition, deformation, deformation is too large will cause the pit instability or endanger the surrounding buildings, underground pipelines. More accurate deformation prediction before construction of the foundation pit, there may have been large deformation position reinforcement is a more useful way to avoid the accident. In this study, taked an example of foundation excavation of International Financial Center in Changchun, for the detail of the project and its engineering geological condition of the site, on the basis of the analysis of various types of support structure, a support program and a dewater scheme are presented. A detailed supporting structure design calculations, stability analysis and arrangement of the dewatering well points are studied. A large-scale geotechnical finite element software PLAXIS is used to computer the deformation and stresss distribution in each excavation step. It shows that there is a good agreement between the ground settlement and the lateral defroamtions and the monitoring results. The results prevoid a referrence for the similar projects in this area.
