The Applicational Value And Skills Of Ultrasonic Scalpel In Open Thyroid Surgery

Objective:To investigate the applicational value of ultrasonic dissection in thyroid surgery and master the technique of ultrasonic dissection.Methods:Between March2010and September2011, the eighty-nine cases which adopted ultrasonic scalpel in thyroidectomy was selected at random in our department compared with80cases which treated with conventional thyroid surgery during this same period in the control group. Then, the operative time, blood loss, postoperative drainage, postoperative complication and length of hospital stay in two groups had been measured, and the data had been analysed in statistics.Results:The operative time, blood loss, postoperative drainage, postoperative complications and length of hospital stay of ultrasonic scalpel group was significantly advantage over than that of conventional surgery group (P<0.05), while the postoperative complication was not statistically significant.Conclusion:The technique of ultrasonic scalpel is feasible and safe in thyroidectomy. It has the advantage of smaller incision, clear of the surgical field, shorten the operation time, amount of blood loss and postoperative drainage decreased, otherwise, It avoids that reaction of foreign body when the surgical suture was left in incision.
