Objective To investigate the role of serum gastrin (GAS) and growth hormone (GH)of the patients with precancerous lesions and gastric polyps,in the development ofgastric cancer by detecting their level change,in order to provide the basis of earlygastric cancer pathogenesis. Methods Two hundred and thirty patients were collected from the First AffiliatedHospital of Henan University of Science and technology outpatient or inpatient bygastroscopy in accordance with the diagnostic criteria. The patients accompany withother diseases were excluded.Selected cases were divided into the control group of30cases,the gastric polyps group of40cases and the gastric precancerous lesions groupof160cases (atrophic, intestinal, various types of atypical hyperplasia).GAS and GHwere detected by radioimmunoassy according to the kit instruction strictly.Results1.The serum gsatrin(GAS) values(units of Pg/ml) in the control group, gastricpolys group and atrophic gastritis group were:63.18±14.29,68.48±18.82,71.69±14.74.The serum gsatrin(GAS) values of the gastric precancerous lesions groupfrom intestinal metaplasia, mild dysplasia, moderate dysplasiato severe dysplasia were71.04±14.17,71.72±16.47,78.98±6.74and89.54±8.82.2.There was no significant difference between the control group and the gastricpolys group(P>0.05).3.The serum gsatrin(GAS) values of the atrophic gastritis group and gastricprecancerous lesions group was higher with statistically significant(P<0.05)thanthe one of the control group.4.The mild dysplasia group and moderate dysplasia group showed no significantdifference(P>0.05)in the serum gsatrin(GAS) values. On the contrary, there wasstatistically significant difference between the mild dysplasia group and severe dysplasia group as well as the moderate dysplasia group and severe dysplasia group(P<0.05).5.The serum growth hormone(GH) values (units of ng/ml) detected in thecontrol group, gastric polys group, atrophic gastritis group, intestinal metaplasiagroup, mild dysplasiagroup, moderate dysplasia group, and severe dysplasia group were3.33±1.22,4.06±3.52,4.36±1.38,4.32±1.78,4.32±1.97,5.3±1.6and6.66±1.45.6.The serum growth hormone(GH) values of gastric polys group showed noabnormalities(P>0.05)Compared with the control group.7.There were statistically significant difference between the atrophic gastritisintestinal metaplasia and various types of atypical hyperplasia group and the controlgroup(P<0.05).8.There showed no abnormalitie between the mild dysplasia group and moderatedysplasia as well as moderate dysplasia group and severe dysplasia group(P>0.05).There was statistically significant difference between the mild dysplasiagroup and severe dysplasia group.(P<0.05).9.There was positive correlation between the expression of Serum GH and GASin gastric precancerous lesionsConclusion The GH and GAS play important role in the development of gastriccancer. It is necessary to do further study.
