PURPOSE: To analyze the epidemiological characters of oral andmaxillofacial injuries by the retrospective study of many clinical data ofepidemiology in hospitalized patients.METHODS:A retrospective review ofpatients admitted to the Stomatology Hospital of Fourth Military MedicalUniversity from August,2008to March,2011was done.Statistic analysis of thedata was done.RESULTS: One thousand and one patients was reviewed.Theratio of male and female was2.80:1.30.07%of patients were aged between20and30.Road traffic accidents(RATs) was the major cause of facialinjury(48.45%).A large proportion of facial injuries occurred on the lowerface.The symphysis of mandible was most frequently damaged(573cases).Themost common associated trauma was eye injury(171cases),followed bycraniocerebral injury and limbs injury.CONCLUSION: The most ofmaxillofacial trauma patients in hospital are fractures. Injury causes,stress natureand the anatomy of the trauma part the number of fracture and the position. Eye injury, craniocerebral injury and limbs damage are the most commoncomplications and should give full attention. And in the course of treatment thewhole body condition can not neglect.
