Correlation Between18F-FFS SUV And ER Assessed By Immunohistochemistry Of Breast Cancer-preliminary Study

[Objective] The purpose of this study was to explorer the sensitivity of estradiol receptors (ER) expression with the standard uptake value (SUV) of18F-FES, and compare the relation between18F-FES SUV and estradiol receptors ER expression assessed by immunohisto-chemistry of breast cancer.[Methods]18F-FES the maximum of standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and the average of standardized uptake value (SUVavg) were obtained from32female breast tumor patients (31cases breast cancer,1case precancerosis) who were under18F-FES PET-CT scanning. ERs were detected by immunohistochemistry.[Results]65.6%(21/32) cases of breast tumor were positive for IHC ER and64.5%(20/31) cases of breast cancer. There was a significant difference in18F-FES SUVmax(i=-8.096, P=0.000) and18F-FES SUVavg (t=-9.639; P=0.000) between IHC ER positive and negative groups. There was a strong correlation between IHC ER expression levels and18F-FES SUVmax (r=0.896,P=0.000),18F-FES SUVavg (r=0.904,P=0.000). There was a significant difference in18F-FES SUV between axillary lymph node metastasis and no-metastasis groups (P<0.05), no difference among diffetent menopausal state groups, tumor size groups, pathologic types groups (P>0.05), respectively. The receiver operating characteristic curve revealed that the area of18F-FES SUVmax and SUVavg under the ROC curve were both1.000(P=0.000). It is better for detecting ER, there was no difference between the ROC curve of18F-FES SUVmax and SUVavg (P=1.000). Its best critical value of18F-FES SUVmax was1.28,18F-FES SUVavg was0.97for detecting ER (sensitivity1.000, specificity1.000, both).[Conclusions] It was better to accurately and dynamically reflect breast tumor ER expression through18F-FES SUV, and18F-FES PET-CT would be another means for detecting ER of breast tumor, expecially for relapse and metastasis breast cancer.
