Objective: To explore the changes and the clinical significance of serum macrophagemigration inhibitory factor (MIF), interleukin-16(IL-6) and interleukin-11(IL-17)in the peripheral blood of patients with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).Methods: Levels of serum MIF, IL-6, IL-17were detected in30ITP patients beforetreatment and30healthy volunteers (normal controls) by using a enzyme-linkedimmunosorbent assay (ELISA). All the data were analyzed by statistics softwareSPSS17.0. Normal distribution measurement data were shown as means±standarddeviation (x±s). One-way ANOVA was used to analyze data between multiple groupsand pearson’s linear analysis was used for correlation analysis. The inspectionstandard was alpha=0.05.Result: The levels of MIF(395.66±32.71pg/ml), IL-6(51.30±5.37pg/ml) in patientswith Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura before treatment were significantly highercompared to those in normal control (224.56±40.07pg/ml,15.57±3.75pg/ml)(P<0.05),were Significantly lower compared to those after treatment(213.97±30.95pg/ml,16.84±4.27pg/ml)(P<0.05); The serum level of IL-17in beforetreatment (34.91±0.11pg/ml) and after treatment (32.87±0.10pg/ml) ITP patients wasSlightly higher compared to those in normal control(31.71±0.08pg/ml), whereas therewas no statistical difference was observed in the levels of IL-17to before treatment, normal group and after treatment (P>0.05). There was a positive correlation betweenlevels of before treatment MIF and IL-6in ITP (r=0.726,P<0.05).Conclusion: The present study suggests that there are aberrant cytokines in thepatients with immune thrombocytopenic purpura: the levels of MIF,IL-6are increasedin the peripheral blood of patients with immune thrombocytopenic purpura. And thepresent study suggests that the aberrant cytokines is involved in the pathogenesisof ITP. Atfter treatment, the aberrant cytokines in the patients with immunethrombocytopenic purpura are recovery as the platelet counts are above70x109/L. And detection of cytokines might be helpful for the diagnosis and determination oftherapeutic outcome of ITP.
