Mink viral enteritis is a kind of highly contacting transmitted disease, endangering minkfarming. Its main pathogenic group is the follow-up minks with a death rate of over80%.There are no specific drugs for the prevention and treatment of the disease at home andabroad. The most effective method to prevent this disease is vaccination injection. Butimmune failures occur frequently. It can bring a great loss if no effective measures aretaken. The immunoglobulin is an effective biological agent for the treatment of thedisease. On July10th,2012,, an acute infectious disease broke out in Luming mink farm inDalian city, Liaoning province, with the main symptoms of vomiting, dark green row feces, diarrhea and rapid death.170minks were ill.62minks were dead. And the number of sickminks grew at10more or less every day. We diagnosed it as mink viral enteritis initiallyaccording to the clinical symptoms and epidemiological features. The results, based onautopsy of10dead minks, are as follows. There are black contents like coal tar in thestomach, with bleeders in gastric mucosa(4/10). There is ulcer on pyloric part(2/10). Thereare many bleeders in small intestinal mucosa, with dark red contents in intestine(8/10).Mesenteric lymph nodes are obvious enlargement, with blood on section(3/10). There ismuch blood in jejunum and ileum(9/10). We collected the feces samples of sick minks, and made conventional virus isolation. Through PCR detection, there are85positivesamples in96. We confirmed these85minks were infected with MEV.The immunoglobulin of MEV we used in the treatment trials is developed and testedby the Five-star animal health care medicine factory in Jilin province. Experimental studyon its preservation shows that its effectiveness can be maintained more than one yearunder4℃conditions. We chose40sick minks from the85confirmed and divided theminto4groups based on the severity(mainly the color of minks’ feces). As for the earlystage, A1and A2were injected the drug according to1.0mL/kg and1.5mL/kg. As for themiddle, B1and B2were injected with1.5mL/kg and2.0mL/kg. We injected all the10late stage minks with2.0mL/kg. It was taken every another day. At the same time, someantibacterial and anti-diarrhea drugs were used. The controlled group,10early stage sickminks, wasn’t injected with the immunoglobulin. The results showed that the cure rate wasas high as8/10in the early stage,1.0mL/kg recommended. It was low in the middle withthe cure rate2/10,2.0mL/kg recommended. As for the late stage, it had no effect. The sickminks were all dead both in the late stage and the controlled group. The cure rate is low inmiddle and late stage is mainly because the long sick course leads to serious physicalfailure. Therefore, we suggest early detection, diagnosis and treatment for the sick minksinfected with MEV.
