Salvia is the largest of the Lamiaceae. The genus Salvia represents an enormous and cosmopolitan assemblage of nearly900-1100species displaying a remarkable range of variation. There are84species in China and many taxonomic problems in the flora area, especially in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces. Western sichuan region in our country for any of the main distribution plant, but for a long time on the taxon、distribution, especially the study of ornamental resources system. This research was combined with literature, specimen verification, and through the field investigation, the research of western Sichuan region system of plants species, the Salvia distribution and ornamental value, and12species of wild plants on any of the introduction. On the other hand, nutlet and leaf of morphology research for discussing plant systematics has an important meaning, and this paper from western Sichuan, northeast Yunnan and part of any of the fruits of foreign plants and leaf morphological observation, so as to provide any of systematics theory basis.1. Based on the wild work and extensive review of literature and specimens of genus Salvia in west Sichuan province, this paper has summarized and described the natural condition, distribution characteristics and the ornamental features of flower color、plant height florescence of the32species (including3varieties and2forms). In addition, S. castanea、S. przewalskii、S. yunnanensis were introduced into Ya’an in open ground. Suggestion to conserve and reasonably develop the current resource in west Sichuan province also proposed here.2. The epidermal micromorphological characters of25species in Salvia were comparatively studied by scanning electron microscopy. The nutlets exhibited variation in shape, surface sculpturing, size, and colour. Nutlet size ranged between1.15-4.20mm length and0.63-2.88mm width. Nutlet surface sculpturing revealed11distinct types: ruminate reticulate、areolate、sulcate、undulate、stelliform verrucate、colliculate、 circuar flake、irregular flake、rugose.3.24samples of Salvia in Sichuan Agriculture University were studied in this article. The anatomical structures of the leaf were compared by the methods of paraffin section. Combined with the biological characteristic, the classification of Salvia was analysised and discussed in terms of morphology and anatomy. According to their roles and function, these species could be chosen differently. The results are as follows. The anatomic structures of the leaf of every species are significative in classification of Salvia. But the categorised results are not totally identical; it proves that the evolution of different characteristics of the plant is not synchronous. These species of Salvia were divided into3groups in terms of their anatomic structure of the leaf.
