Eighty-one heads of similar bodyweight porcupines in six months were selected to determine the effect of different levels of DE and protein on the performance. The experiment was a completely randomized design with two factors. The two factors were DE and protein. Then set3levels in each factors. And each DE level had3protein levels. The DE levels were:13.4J/kg、13.6MJ/kg and13.8MJ/kg. The protein levels were:15.00%、16.00%and17.00%. Porcupines were housed in pens of nine, with3duplicates pens per treatment and each duplicates had3porcupines with the male/female=1:2. The results show that:At the end of the experiments, increased DE could improve the ADFI、ADG and F/G significantly. The ADFI and ADG of high DE level treatments and middle DE level treatments were significantly higher than that of low DE level treatments in whole trail (P<0.01). There is no significant effect on the ADFI of high DE level treatments and middle DE treatments (P>0.05). But the ADG of high DE level treatments was significant higher than that of middle DE level treatments (P<0.05). The F/G of high DE level treatments was significantly lower than that of middle DE level treatments and low DE level treatments in whole trail (P<0.01). Comprehensive evaluation of the result, the general effect of high DE level treatments was best. Increasing the protein concentration could effect on final weight of porcupine、ADFI、ADG、F/G. in whole trail The ADFI of middle protein level treatments and low protein level treatments was significantly higher than that of high protein level treatments in whole trail (P<0.01). The ADG of middle protein level treatments was significant higher than of high protein level treatments (P<0.01) and low protein level treatments (P<0.05) in whole trail. The F/G. of high protein level treatments was significantly lower than that of middle protein level treatments (P<0.05) and low protein level treatments (P<0.01) in whole trail. At the end of the experiment, the final weight of middle protein level treatments was significantly higher than that of high protein level treatments (P<0.05). Comprehensive evaluation of the result, there would obtain a better performance when feeding middle protein level diet to porcupine. Comprehensive evaluation of the result at different stage, the dietary appropriate DE level for6-8months porcupine is13.8MJ/kg and the appropriate crude protein level is16.00%.
