Content:To study the effects of functional oligosaccharides on rumen fermentation of Jingjiang cattle and established microbial growth efficiency model, batch culture procedure was carried out that the diet is with concentration:forage ratio of2:8in vitro. Combine the result of the initial experiments in JXAU laboratory of animal nutrition, we obtained two different congbinationg of functiongal oligosaccharides;then study the effects of the combinations on rumen fermentation and enzyme activity of Jingjiang cattle in vivo. There are three parts in this study.Part1:The objective of this study was to determine the effect of functional oligosaccharides on rumen microorganism fermentation and growth efficiency in Jingjiang cattle. Batch cultures in vitro were used for the study. Basal diet with concentration to forage ratio of2:8was supplemented with mannanoligosaccharides(MOS), fructo-oligosaccharides(FOS) and soybean oligosaccharides(SBOS), respectively. The varying supplementation levels of each oligosaccharide were0,0.80%,1.00%, and1.20%. The results showed that:ruminal pH value was not influenced (P>0.05); the total VFA and MCP concentrations were, however, significantly increased by dietary addition of functional oligosaccharides used; The daily microbial N production and growth efficiency were also slightly improved. The quadratic curve model between microbial growth efficiency and supplementation level of functional oligosaccharide was developed. The maximum microbial growth efficiency with microbial N production of59.72g and59.50g/kg digestible organic matter were obtained when the addition levels of MOS and SBOS were1.17%and1.03%, respectively, as calculated by the model. According to the present and previous experimental results, we obtained two different combinations of functional oligosaccharides.Part2and Part3:The objective of the studies were to determine the effects of different combinations on rumen fermentation and enzyme activity of Jinjiang cattle in vivo.3healthy Jinjiang cattle weighting about300±20Kg were used for self-control method trial. The trial is divided into three phases:first is control phases, second and third are respectively GT1,GT2of functional oligosaccharide combination. Each trial phase is14days, every transition period is also14days. The results showed that:pH in rumen varied slightly, the concentrations of ammoniacal nitrogen and VFA increased, concentration of microbial protein decreased, the enzyme activity of cellulase, xylanase, total dehydrogenase was improveed, and protease was not improveed, in the phase GT1or GT2. Effects of functional oligosaccharide combination GT2(0.8%MOS+1.2%FOS+1.0%SBOS) on rumen fermentation and enzyme activity of Jinjiang cattle is better.
