Xing’an Sheng-ma(Cimicifuga dahurica (Turcz) Maxim.) is renascent herbs of the buttercup secco cohosh genera, which are widely distributed in Heilongjiang,Jilin,Liaoning and Inner Mongolia region.It is mainly produced in Hebei(Chengde,Long’guan and Zhangjiakou, etc),Shanxi(Datong) and Inner Mongolia.Its rhizome has been used as traditional medicine in China,which has the function of "heat-clearing and detoxicating" and "wind-heat headache",metroptosis etc.Thirteen compounds have been isolated from the roots of Cimicifuga.dahurica (Turcz) Maxim..Twelve of them were identified as cimigenol(1), isoferulic acid(2),Cimiacerogenin B(3),ferulic acid(4),cimigenol-3-O-β-D-xylopranoside(5),25-O-acetylcimigenol-3-O-P-D-xylopranoside(6),24-O-acetylisodahurinol-3-O-β-D-xylopyranoide(7),E-3-(3"-Methyl-2"-b utenylidene)-2-indolinone(8),methyl ferulic acid(9),cimigenol-3-one(10),25-O-acetyl cimigenol(11), β-amyrin(12).The compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel, TLC, Sephadex LH-20and reverse phase C-18silica gel column chromatography. Their structures were elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic methods. This is the first report of the isolation of9from Cimicifuga, and the compounds3,7,10were isolated from this plant for the first time.It found that the presence of a large number of9,19-cycloartane glycosides and cinnamic acid in the Cimicifuga.The structure of the compounds1,3,5,6,7,11,12are9,19-cycloartane glycosides.
