Fujian is one of the most important producing areas of the medicinal material----Cassia seed. Based onthe shrinking production of the Cassia seed and the germplasm intermix with each other in Fujian province,Cassia Linn plants and the medicinal value of the seed were studied in this paper. This study aim to providea scientific support for the alternative selection of Cassia Linn and various development and utilization.Theresults as follows:(1)Cassia Linn plants are mainly distributed in southern area of Fujian province. There are four speciessuch as Cassia obtusifolia L, Cassia alata, Chamaecrista rotundifolia and Chamaecradta nictitans inFujian,but were not documented in the book Flora of Fujian. And also in this book, the wild speciesCassia mimosoides and Cassia siamea have been very sparse, while Cassia leschenaultiana and Cassiafloribunda have not been recorded.(2) There are eight Cassia Linn species in Fujian------Cassia obtusifolia, Cassia tora, Cassia surattensis,Cassia occidentalis, Cassia alata, Chamaecradta nictitans, Chamaecrista rotundifolia and Cassiabicapsularis.The solube polysaccharides,anthraquinone,aurantio-obtusi,rhein,emodin,Chrysphanol,physcion in them are4.021%-9.836%,0~16.909mg/g,0~1.383mg/g,0~0.557mg/g,0~0.273mg/g,0~0.902mg/g and0~1.850mg/g. The seeds of Cassia obtusifolia L have the highest medicinal value, the contain ofaurantio-obtusin and Chrysophanol are1.383mg/g,0.590mg/g. The seeds of Cassia tora L also have highmedicinal value, and the contain of aurantio-obtusin and Chrysophanol are0.679mg/g and0.902mg/g. ItsChrysophanol is higher than Stenotaphrum cassia L by52.9%. But the aurantio-obtusin and Chysophanolin the other seeds are too lower,even can not be detected.(3)The correlations analysis showed that the index of medicinal active components of different seeds ofthe plants, the soluble polysaccharides of Cassia Linn seeds have negative correlation with1,8-hydroxy-anthracenedione and its derivatives. The correlation coefficient-7.994. The indexes of othermedicinal active components have no significance correlationship each other.
