The Research On Information Demand And Supply Of Scientific Research Personnel Of Agricultural Scientific Research Institutes In Hubei Province

As the main information provider, researcher is an important subject of the agricultural researchinstitutes. With the rapid development of information technology, information is becoming more andmore important. of scientific research personnel are becoming increasingly prominent. It is the basis forproviding high-quality scientific and technological information services and improving the constructionof science and technology information resources to fully understand the information needs ofresearchers and their behavioral characteristics. This study investigates information needs andinformation behavior of92research staff of the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences byquestionnaires and analyses statistics by SPSS17.0software. The results show that the informationdemand of the researchers is large with diversification and extensive sources. However, due toinsufficient capital investment, weak information team building, imperfect information managementsystem, the current supply of scientific and technological information is insufficient; factors thatinfluence research information needs are mainly age, research duties, stable procurement of funds, aswell as access to research information. In order to provide a reference for sound literature informationresources system, and Documentation and Information Service, based on the above analysis on theinformation needs and information behavior of researchers, this study makes several proposals: it isurgent to strengthen the organization of the Academy of the information supply, to enhance theexpression mechanism of the information needs, to increase its investment to improve facilities andconditions of the information supply, to intensify information officertraining，to improve informationteam building, and develop and perfect the information management policies and system.
