There are many side effects of antibiotics as feed additives. It is an indisputablefact. Thus,to develop green feed additives is urgently needed in animal production. The effects of substitution of curcumin for quinocetone in finishing pigs wasstudied, and the optimal supplementary amount of curcumin in diet fed to finishingpigs was investigated.64healthy,three-way crossbred (Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire)finishing pigs weighting about70kg were divided into4groups,each group16pigs.Thegroup1(control group)pigs were fed basal diet supplemented50mg/kg Quinocetone;thegroup2~4pigs were respectively fed basal diet supplemented200,300,400mg/kgcurcumin.Formal feeding experiment period was40d.Feeding experimental results were as follows:①weight gain:the final weight ofgroup3,4pigs was higher than group1by7.91%(P<0.05) and6.73%(P<0.05)respectively,the final weight of group3,4pigs were markedly higher than group2pigs(P<0.05);the average daily gain (ADG)of group3,4pigs were higher than group1by12.32%(P<0.01),9.35%(P<0.05).②FCR:the FCR(feed conversion rate) of group3,4pigs was higher than group1by12.69%(P<0.05) and9.92%(P>0.05)respectively,group2pigs was lower than group1by4.60%(P>0.05).③biochemical parameters in serum:therewere no significant differences (P>0.05) in the GPT activities in serum between group2,3,4pigs and the control group1.However,there were significant differences in the GPTactivities in serum between group2and group4(P<0.05).The GOT activities in serum ofthe experimental group3,4pigs were lower than the control1group by13.38%(P<0.05),21.75%(P<0.05),but GOT activities in serum of the group2pigs were higher than thecontrol1group (P<0.05);TP in serum of group2,3and4pigs was higher than group1by4.75%(P>0.05),4.26%(P>0.05),6.10%(P<0.05)respectively,glucose in serum of group2,3and4pigs were higher than group1by8.64%(P>0.05),2.83%(P>0.05),12.28%(P>0.05)respectively.④meat quality:pH value has decreasing trend with curcuminincrease in diet, but not significant (P>0.05);there were no significant differences (P>0.05)in drip loss between group2,3and4pigs and group1,But there were significantdifferences (P>0.05) in drip loss between group3and4pigs and group2(P<0.05).Compared with group1,a*(redness) of meat of group2,3and4pigs wereincreased by1.84%,4.20%,5.25%(P>0.05);the concentration of MDA in serum of groups2,3and4pigs was decreased at a different degree.⑤the antibady fever of pigs:the swine fever antibady of group3and4pigs was higher than group1by1.26%(P>0.05),7.74%(P<0.05);food and mouth of groups3and4pigs were markedly higher than groups1and2pigs(P<0.05);PRRS antibady in serum of the groups2,3and4pigs was increasedby6.15%,8.46%(P>0.05)than group1at different degree.Based on above experimental results the conclusion was made:the substitution ofcurcumin for quinocetone in diet has active effect on pig body health;and at differentdegree, improved average daily gain, feed conversion efficiency, glucose and total proteinconcentration in serum, decreased the activities of GOT and GPT and the concentration ofMDA in serum.According to productive performance, the optimal supplementary amountof curcumin in diet fed to finishing pigs was300mg/kg,but that was400mg/kg basedon serum biochemical parameters....
