In2005, Anhui Province government decided to implement technological breakthrough of high yield for wheat in the major wheat-producing areas for5-years. This project was put on the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan". This project emphasized technological breakthrough of high yield for wheat as an important starting point during Anhui Province agricultural restructuring, as the effective way to promote regional distribution, high-quality production, took comprehensive measures to improve the yield and quality, and strived to increased2.5billion kg in Anhui Province by2010.According to the practice of wheat in Yangtze-Huaihe region of Anhui Province, popularizing sub-regional control indicators of high yield engineering technique and corresponding technology, new technology of improving medium low yielded farm low-yield farmland, the technology of straws back to the field and efficient use of fertilizer rich modern cultivation theory on high yield of wheat in Anhui Province. Meanwhile, practical work of wheat such as varieties with high yield and quality, the measures of soil testing and fertilizer implementation, the scientific seeding technology, the integrated management techniques of diseases, pests and weeds was expatiated.Wheat yields keep continuous increasing for five consecutive years in Anhui Province during2005-2010. Wheat yields in Anhui Province were higher than those in the national average yield of wheat from2006. Wheat yields in Anhui Province were11.3%lower than the national average yields of wheat in2005, while were5.5%higher than the national average yield of wheat in2010. Total production and yield of wheat increased year by year in Anhui Province.The total wheat yields and yields in the citys including Fuyang, Bozhou, Bengbu, Chuzhou, Suzhou, Huainan, Huaibei maintain good growth. Compared with that in2005, area of wheat increased8~54.7%in2010. Compared with those in2005, The total wheat yields and yields increased5.8~103.9%and18.1~116.6%respectively in2010.Wheat varieties of super high yield potential for Huaibei area were screened. Wheat varieties of disease resistance for Yangtze-Huaihe region were Screened.In summary, high-yielding wheat germplasm screening and theory and the application of wheat cultivation technology provide the necessary theory and application for high-yield wheat in Anhui Province.
