The negative effects that brought by the increasing of greenhouse emission, such as air pollution and global warm in, have been threatening all the global ecosystems. The studies on how to reduce the density of CO2and to prevent global warming have become one of the hottest issues. The total area of grassland is2.40×108km2, takes33%of the terrestrial ecosystem; about half of it was under different level of degradation. The area of grassland in China is about4.00×106km2the degraded area takes about56.5%of all. Through the researches of grassland degradation, we found that enclosure is one of the effective ways to recover the degradation. But only few studies were found on plant and soil carbon storage after enclosure. Our research about the carbon storage was conducted on the5sub classes of meadow grassland of Xin Barag Right Banner. The experiment was taken both on the grazing plots and enclosure plots. The dynamic change of carbon storage in plant above-ground parts, litter, roots and soil were examined in this study. The results shown as follow:1. Both biomass and carbon density of above-ground vegetation, litter, root system and soil increased in enclosure plots.2. Positive correlative relation was found between the biomass of above-ground vegetation and carbon density (R2=0.9986、R2=0.9991). Positive correlative relation was found between the carbon density of toor system and above-ground part (R2=0.8301).There is no significant correlation between carbon density of root system and soil (R2=0.7729、R2=0.5568)3. Carbon density of root system and soil decreased as soil depth increasing. Carbon density was mainly at0-20cm of soil layer. Enclosure will significantly increase carbon density of root system and soil at0-30cm and50-100cm (p<0.05).4. Enclosure increased grassland carbon density. The different increasing rates were showed in different sub class of meadow grassland. In which, lowland meadow showed significant increasing in carbon density after enclosing.
