The organic carbon in sediments was considered the final affect of assemble of the carbon, which accumulation was important in the carbon in the balance of payments. The content of organic matter was closely related to the grain size in sediments. The smaller the grade size of sediments, the stronger the adsorption ability, the higher the content of organic carbon. Therefore, understanding the distribution of organic carbon, migration and the transformation of the river sediments can help us to understand some links of the riverl carbon cycle more clearly. In order to analyze the composition of organic mineral complex, the distribution character of organic carbon in sediments and the relationship between sediment and soil from the main stream of the second Songhua river, Fusong, Jilin, Yushu, Songyuan’s sidements were selected in the study. I selected the representative soils as control in the river shore. Application of particle size fractionation method, samples were divided into four levels (grain size distribution was as followed:<2μm,2~20μm,20~200μm,>200μm). Through the content of clay, silt, fine sand and coarse sand, I analyzed the composition character of organic mineral complex. Then, I determined the content of organic carbon in four grain size. Analysis of the distribution characteristics of organic carbon and contrasting with the shore soil, I analyse the relationship between sediment and soil. Determining the clay mineral composition of sediment, I analysed the characteristics clay mineral composition in sediment, and compared with the soil. Through analysis clay mineral composition of sediment and soil samples, I can further judged the relationship of sediment and soil. The main results of this study were as follows:organic mineral complex in sediments primarily was composed by the sand organic mineral complex, next clay organic mineral complex and silt organic mineral complex. Fusong’s sediment was composed by coarse sand complex. The content was51.30%. Jilin, Yushu and Songyuan’s sediments were composed by fine sand complex. The content were41.04%,48.70%,58.69%respectively. The central grain size of sediments showed that the upper reaches were much more than that of the lower reaches. The central grain size of sediment from Fusong was200μm. The central grain size of sediment from Jilin was about70μm. The central grain size of sediments from Yushu and Songyuan were approximately50μm. With the grain size of organic mineral complex increased, the content of organic carbon was decreased. The content of organic carbon followed the order of Fusong>Jilin>Yushu>Songyuan. The clay-sized mineral mainly was composed of Vermiculite, Chlorite, Illites, Kaolinitum, Quartz and little Montmorillonite. The sediment of Fusong occurred chloritization phenomenon is obvious. It showed that in the long-term flooding and acidic conditions contribute to chloritization occurred. The composition of organic mineral complex, the distribution character of organic carbon, the composition of humic substances and clay-sized mineral in the sediments and the shoreside soils had a better consistency. It showed that soils had a significant contribution to the composition and distribution of sediments.
