Procambarus clarkii, the endemic specie in central and south America and north Mexico, was introduced to China in the1930’s,. Being an Important aquatic economic specie and widely distributed in the yangtze river valley, the techniques and methods of cultivation of Procambarus clarkii became an important factor to quality and productivity. To contrast the growth status, cultured outputs and economic returns of cultured Provambarus clarkii in diverse culture models, different farming waters were selected Provambarus clarkii was cultured in ponds, bottomland, paddy field and woodland separately under controlled conditions, with varying climatic and aquatic conditions, disparate culture areas, distinct carrying capacities but similar hydrophyte, water qualities, culture-cycle,cultural method and cultural technique, and same disease control and prevention system and fishing systemThe results showed that:1. Standard stocking quantities and sizes was convenient for daily management and easy to higher yieid in the same management methods and environment conditions2. Suitable stocking species, appropriate ratio and size of stocking, plenteous high-quality feeds, meticulous feeding and management was equal to higher outputs and economic returns in the mixed-culture model. The profits of poly-species cultivation of crayfish, carb and fishes was almost tripled that of crayfish and carb.3. In addition to artificial feed, bottomland, rich in natural resources, afforded sufficient natural feeding, which promoted the outputs and benefits of cultivation of Procambarus clarkii.the reasonable stocking species helped to purify water quality, make full use of space, improve utilization of feeds and promote the growth cultured species.4. To make the best of the shallow water environment in paddy field and increase the economic benefits per unit area, crayfish and rice were farmed simultaneously in one field. The growing rice provide the place of shelter or concealment for Procambarus clarkii while the herbivorous and burrowing habits of Procambarus clarkii contribute to weeding, loosen and fertilizer soil. The intertwined relationship reduced the expenditures, improved security of products.5. To make full use of the soil and plant resources of woodland, realizing the mutually beneficial and reciprocal relationship of agriculture, forestry and fishery resources, the composite culture model improved the environment, achieved the goal of reciprocal advantages and circular development. The results demonstrated good breeding results and economic benefits with appropriate managements, well selected fingerlings, limited breeding densities, suitable stocking sizes and ratios in all culture models that tested. The mono-culture model gave a average output of397.6kg of Provambarus clarkii per Mu, much more than other models, while the poly-species cultivation of crayfish, carb and fishes in pond yielded biggest profits of9116RMB.
