China is the largest country of raw cotton production. In China, there are the plantation area of5.36million and the total output of6million tons each year. Cotton is not only an important source ofincome for more than100million farmers, but also related to the problem of employment for the nearly20million employees of textile and related industries, and linked to both the economic stability and thedevelopment of cotton industry. After the reform and opening up, the reformation of rural areas greatlypromoted the development of agricultural productivity, and increased the yields of grain, cotton andother agricultural products. Although cotton production significantly increased, it is still necessary toimport about40%of raw cotton in order to meet the needs of textile industry, leading to the only around60%of cotton self-sufficiency rate in China. Therefore, there is a big supply pressure in the domesticcotton production. The aim of this study is focused on the creation, development, experience andlessons learned of hybrid cotton, and the analyses of advantages of hybrid cotton to improve yields ofcotton. Moreover, in this paper, we will concentrate on the problem that is related to the promotion ofhybrid cotton market, and propose the development idea of hybrid cotton, combined with the futuredevelopment direction of the cotton industry in the future.With the extension and analyses of hybridcotton all over the world, it is believed that, due to the increased requirement of hybrid cotton seeds, wehave to promote the output of cotton by means of the development of hybrid cotton. From the point ofview of breeding seeds, the breeding method of hybrid cotton determines the intensity of the extensionof hybrid cotton. Because, in theory, the advantage of hybrid is limited to the hybrid generation of F1for the separation of F2generation, it will cause the reduced output and decreased quality. At present,the breeding of hybrid combination depends on the experience of breeders, with a large number ofcombinations and screen. It is observed that there are no significant differences between various hybridcottons, with the highlight of homogenization phenomenon. Because breeders do not pay attention tothe parents of purification and rejuvenation, a combination of production employed degenerate seriously.The good seeds and methods of hybrid cotton are not match, and the density is too sparse. It is requiredto increase chemical fertilizers to enlarge cotton plant individuals, so that the inputs of cottonproduction are too large. Sparse plantation reduces the ability to compensate, affected by naturaldisasters. Therefore, it is easy to lead to the reduction of plantation, and result a great decrease in theproduction of cotton. The different scale of cotton seeds companies cause the instability of the cotton seed market, and the production of cotton is affected by this reason. There are great varieties in thespecies of cotton because of the great varieties in the production of cotton. This will hinder the rapiddevelopment of hybrid cotton in China.With the discussion and analyses, it is concluded that:1.Male sterility (three department laws) is an effective approach to induce the cost of breeding seedssignificantly. The advantages are the easiness of breeding seeds, the reduction in cost (40%~50%) andthe easiness of keeping purity.2.Reasonable increase in plantation density will benefit to improve yields. The pursuit of both sparseplantation and big bell will lead to the unharmonious production factors. Therefore, it is difficult toimprove the output greatly.3.The genetic diversity of germplasm resources can promote the continuous development of heterosis.The exploration of excellent germplasm is the key to the development of super hybrid cotton seeds.4.It is necessary to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights, and protect the interests ofscientific research units, and enhance the ability to innovate new hybrid cotton.5.Adulteration is an important factor of inducing the quality of hybrid cotton seeds.
