Avian Colibacillosis is a frequently reported disease in chiken and the main reasonsof carcass throwing that bring severe economic loss to poultry industry. Furthermore,Colibacillosis has a hidden danger to public health. Drug resistance is easily producedin Escherichia coli, and not standard Medication make the condition more severely.Inthe past few years, more and more Escherichia coli strians with drug resistance werereported, and the drug resistance spectrum in Escherichia coli were wider than beforeeven some new antibiotics that did not used in veterinarians medication. It’s a hiddendanger to public health. In this research the epidemiolgy and drug resistance of pathogenic Escherichia colistrains isolated from some regions in Dezhou were investigated. This study includesthree parts:Part Ⅰ: Escherichia coli were isolated from diseased chickens from36chickenfarms in Dezhou, Shandong province of China during2010–2011, and33Escherichiacoli isolates were characterized for O serotypes by serological identification. Fiveserotypes (O78, O35, O1, O2and O88) were were identified in the33Escherichiacoli isolates, and the most common serotypes were O78(11/33), O35(11/33) and O35(7/33). The three serotypes were occupied87.88%in all.Part Ⅱ: Drug susceptibility determinations were used to test the isolated33Escherichia coli strains by Kirby-Bauer method recommendation by WHO. The resultshowed that the level of drug resistance were high and the resistence spectrum werewider in the Escherichia coli strains isolated from Dezhou. The multi-resistance wasmainly three-resistance, and the resistance rates was93.9%in all the33strains. The33Escherichia coli strains were highly resistant to kanamycin, Achromycin, chlormycetin, Ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin and streptomycin, the resistant rates were allabove54.5%. To those isolates, the most resistant durg was kanamycin with theresistant rate of84.8%, meanwhile the most susceptible durg was Amikacin with thesaitivity rate of72.7%.Part Ⅲ: ANT(3”)-Ia, AAC(6’)-Ib, AAC(6’)-Ib, FYUA and IRP2gene weredetected by PCR. The results showed that there were24strains containingaminoglycoside resistance gene in the33Escherichia coli isolates with the detectionrate of72.7%and there were multiple aminoglycoside resistance genes. The detectionrate of ANT(3’’)-Ia was the highest among those genes and the percentage ofdetection from the strains with aminoglycosides resistance genes was58.3%.
