With the rapid development of the high-speed railway,it proposes many new topics for traction power supply system. The AT traction power supply system of split phase zone is raction power supply system of the weak link, must appropriate solves EMU excess phase region problems. In order to make the high speed railway safety and reliable operation, it need effectively control the power supply system, thereby setting of relay protection. Research on the principle of relay protection, mainly is divided into three steps:analysis, fault identification, protection measures. This article mainly aims at the AT traction power supply system with load normal operation, the traction power supply system occurred failure with load operation, EMU excess phase region, EMU had occurred in neutral grounding fault of phase zone of the state, all stares are analysed; in view of the above condition of fault is identified; find out the criterion and set protection measures.The EMU excess phase region of the main research contents are as follows:(1) AT traction power supply system load and load running was studied.(2) When EMU is not over-phase region, the operating status of the EMU in three kinds of failure in the traction network were studied.(3) EMU excess phase zone, it can produces a four transient process, and may produce larger transient overvoltage problem should was studied.(4) In the neutral line of the AT traction supply system phase occurs ground fault, more in-depth study on the new problems are generated by the EMU over-phase region.(5) According to the above analysis, the EMU is not excess phase zone and excess phase occurs in a variety of conditions, applicating the artificial neural network BP algorithm for intelligent recognition.(6) If you can identify a variety of state the reliable criterion, in order to develop effective protection measures.(7) This paper not only for the above problems is discussed by theoretical analysis and simulation verification, but also EMU excess phase region of the transient process emcrgenced the linear resonance, ferromagnetic resonance phenomenon, voltage sag state, the neutral line of he neutral zone voltage changes, switching over voltage, over-voltage, power frequency over-voltage and so on, these important problems made a detailed theoretical analysis.
