Masonry structure has been used since the beginning of time and has been widely appliedin the world, with the accumulation of their service time and the development of demands onstructural safety under earthquake, more attentions should be paid to reinforcement onmasonry structure.According to Urumqi seismic reinforcement of existing masonry buildings, this paperuse rebar embedded in mortar joint to improve the lateral capacity of the wall. This paperobserves the failure process and failure mode, and measures the cracking resistant load, theultimate load, the horizontal load under displacement and the specimen hysteretic by the lowcyclic loading experiments of4pieces of masonry wall (including two different aspect ratiosof sintered clay brick wall, two different aspect ratio anchorage brick masonry walls). Then thetests results are compared analysis with the sintered clay brick walls. This paper obtains thespecimen hysteretic, horizontal capacity, skeleton curves, the rigidity degradation curve, ductility and the energy-dissipation capabilities by studying the experiment results. The testresults shows that: compared with ordinary fired brick masonry, the embedded steel barsreinforcement brick masonry with good strength, energy dissipation capacity and ductility, thecarrying capacity has been greatly improved. This paper use the finite element softwareABAQUS to simulate the wall under the monotonic loading, and provide some references forthe masonry strengthen.
