Discussion On Rainwater Utilization In Landscape Architecture Within Residential Space

Shanghai on the one hand has rich river resources and abundant rainfall, on the other hand belongs to one of the seriously typical water shortage cities. As the most important part of Habitat environment, Residential space Plays an important role to ease urban stormwater problems.By analyzing the external and internal conditions of rainwater utilization in the Shanghai residential area, this paper concludes the characteristics、strategies and means in residential areas according to the principle of’local rainwater utilization’. At the same time, It learns from the abroad cases and then summs up landscape material and landscape means for local rainwater utilization methods, including useing rainwater infiltration landscape ways, rainwater transmission landscape ways and rainwater storage landscape ways.Finally, It relates two rainwater utilization projects in the residential area of Shanghai and analysis Rainwater Utilization as well as put forward landscape enhancement initiatives. It explores a new way to make rainwater utilization as an important factor to residential space Landscape Architecture, which plays an important role in promoting green, eco-contemporary residential landscape design.
