The calculation process of designing reciprocating compressor is very complex. It comprises thermodynamic calculation, dynamic calculation and strength calculation of crankshaft. The traditional method relies on manual calculation while the calculation cycle of this method is very long and the precision is not that high, which dramatically influences the development of the compressor industry.This paper firstly on the basis of traditional thermodynamic calculation flow, develops the thermodynamic module of the digital design system for reciprocating compressor with Visual Basic. Then with regard to the thermal revisionary problem, this paper proposes a new calculation method with PSO algorithm which can overcome the imprecision of traditional calculation method.Regarding the calculation error caused by traditional mass transformation method, this paper proposes an accurate calculation method of reciprocating compressor dynamic parameters. At the same time the dynamic module of the digital design system for reciprocating compressor with Visual Basic is developed. The precision of this calculation method is verified after comparing with the calculation result in ADAMS.Additionally, this paper studies the strength calculation method of compressor crankshaft based on finite element simulation technology and approximate modeling technology. Firstly, this paper develops a parameterized finite element modeling and simulation system of compressor crankshaft using finite element secondary developing technology. Based on the analysis results of the experiments carried by the modeling and simulation system, a simple mathematic model for the maximum stress of the compressor crankshaft is fitted by response surface technology while the deviation has been controlled within5%.The results of this paper will help engineers accomplish the designing of reciprocating compressor system rapidly and precisely while it can be helpful of the designing level of reciprocating compressor system in China.
