Engine Room Monitoring and Alarm System is an important part of the marine engine automation, which can accurately and reliably monitor the status and parameters of various equipments in the ship’s cabin, and if failure occurs, the system will automatically issue sound and light alarm as set. With the rapid development of computer technology being widely used on the ship, the ship cabin’s automation levels constantly improves, and the engine room monitoring and alarm system can replace the management and control of the engineer, so as to improve the marine engineers’ working conditions and reduce their work intensity.In this paper, with the support of the sub-topic-"patrol cabin alarm system"-of the National High Technology Research and Development Program (863Program)-"integrated bridge systems and key equipment"-Project, and combining with ten years successful experience of developed marine engine simulator of laboratory, the ship engine room monitoring alarm system’s systematically study is completed, and the tasks are as following:Data collection and classification of Real ship engine room monitoring and alarm systems, the establishment of a typical ship engine room monitoring and alarm system real-time database; Microcontroller as the main components of the alarm module design, the completion of the alarm data acquisition and transmission functions.The establishment of mathematical model of alarm module, the completion design of a database monitoring and alarm systems, alarm processing, multi-mode parameter display, alarm parameters modify, print and other modules of program.Complete the program design of the interface and data processing module, OVERVIEW mode display interface, GROUP CALL mode display, FREE DISPLAY mode interface, ANALOG METER mode display interface, BAR mode display interface, TREND mode display interface, MIMIC mode display interface, Extension alarm mode display interface based on The VC6.0development software.Complete the communication between the alarm module with alarm interface on the base of CAN bus communication protocol.
