The relative concepts about buckling analysis are discussed in this dissertation. Stability of trusses with small deformation and laced column with two identical Ⅰ sections are investigated. The main research points are as follow:1. Second order effect of axial force is illustrated by beam element stiffness matrix which is based on precise second order theory. In the mean time, the reason of deficiency on critical point identification is analyzed due to using singular stiffness matrix. In addition, some problems of eigenvalue buckling analysis towards critical load solving are pointed out.2. Theory analysis and examples were given to prove that the combination of local buckling theory and eigenvalue buckling theory would be a better way to get reasonable buckling modals and estimate more accurate critical load of small deformation trusses. What’s more, an easier method is available to calculate the critical load of overall instability that is attributed to accumulation of local buckling.3. Four models of latticed column with symmetrical Ⅰ sections are introduced to compare the stability effect between various different distribution of lacing bar and initial deficiency, according to ANSYS nonlinear buckling analysis. In addition, standard is considered as a reference to critical load derived from ANSYS elastic-plastic algorithm.
