The network structure and flow’s distribution of power system can be clearly described by geographical wiring diagram, which is important for power system analysis. In the power system planning, geographical wiring diagram is usually used to show the macro impression of design scheme, and makes the comparisons between different schemes. So it is an important part of power system designers’work that drawing geographical wiring diagram and analyzing the design scheme with geographical wiring diagram.PSD-BPA, an important power flow calculation and stability analysis tool developed by China Electric Power Research Institute, is widely used in system planning. While PSD-Clique, one kind of geographical wiring diagram format’s flow chart drawing software for PSD-BPA’s flow data, is deeply used for aided analysis in system planning. However, some flaws of PSD-Clique have been gradually revealed in the practical applications. In view of this software’s disadvantages, and taking into account the development of3D visualization technology and the3D presentation’s importance of power system planning results, a set of aided planning software containing3D view is developed. This software consists of two parts:a new geographical wiring diagram drawing tool based on PSD-BPA’s flow data, and a power system3D simulation platform.In the study of Power System geographical wiring diagram drawing software, requirements analysis is firstly done based on the research of PSD-Clique. In accordance with the design ideas that modules are independent from each other, the software architecture is designed to three layers:data service layer, drawing operation layer and auxiliary function layer. For the access of basic data, the method getting power system structure and flow information from the DAT file and PFO file is proposed, and then the database is designed. In this paper, geographical wiring diagram drawing software is developed based on Qt. The main drawing framework is designed based on the Graphics View Framework of Qt. The implementation of the framework of the database view, the function of flow animation, and the wiring diagram output technology are introduced in detail.For the power system3D simulation platform, the data resources,3D platform construction and user’s application operations are effectively separated by software architecture design. Then the design process of3D model is introduced. In the last part of paper, the key technologies of power system3D simulation based on Ogre are implemented. Main components of Ogre terrain system and scheme of3D topography simulation are firstly described. Terrain paging and LOD are implemented by this scheme.Then, particle system and weather (rain and snow) simulation based on Ogre particle system are introduced. In order to optimize the performance of3D simulation, the scene content paging feature is realized by PagedGeometry plug.
