With the development of marine,Container ships are experiencing the tendency of large-scale and high speed, the required for Container ship’s safety maneuverability is increasing day.The capability to control ship in low speed is a core issue. As a new type of maneuver facilities, thruster owns excellent hydrodynamic force, it is more suitable than tug in bad weather. Thus, thruster has gradually come into application, especially large container ship. Whereas, rudder is a traditional gear has its own feature. Considering the maneuverability of this ship, the comparison of turning affection between rudder and thruster is critical and practical for safety. This paper adopts MMG model, and establishes the models rely on hull, screw, thruster and rudder separately, together with the interference.Concerning with the idea of ancestors, it provides such a relatively virtual, integrated mathematical modeling which is suitable for large container ship. This one contents the model of Kijima and Yoshimura, and enforceable for various of states. When drift angle descent above30degrees (big drift angle),the Yoshimaura model is used;when that decline below20degree(small drift angles),the Kijima model is applied;the interpolating method is applied when the degree stays between20and30.During the study, MATLAB plays a role of Simulation platform, and the fourth order Runge-Kutta method is used, the turning effect of thruster and rudder are simulated with the usage of Simulink toolbox under different of loading, speed, thruster using condition. Comparing trajectories, changes of heading, heading change rate and so on, many elements which effect the maneuverability are analyzed. The conclusion might be the vital to the ships’safety maneuverability according to the relevant personnel.
