Being the kernel power unit of aircraft field, aero-engines need to be assembled and disassembled for inspection and maintenances frequently. Due to bulky, heavy weight, complex structure, small mounting clearance and other factors, there are a number of difficulties to overcome to achieve accurate location and posture adjustment of aero-engines. Since the quality of aero-engine installation and disassembly have an important impact on the dynamic performance of the aircraft, the equipments by manual operation are commonly used for aero-engine installation in domestic aero at present, which arise problems of low efficiency and quality of the installation.In this paper, to solve the existing issuses such as the low efficiency and quality problems occurred in traditional aero-engine installation, the current aero-engine installation process is studied. Combined with a new aero-engine NC installation method which is proposed in this paper, an aero-engine NC installation vehicle is designed and its structural is analyzed as well.Firstly, due to the aero-engine’s complex structure and heavy weight, the installation difficulties are analyzed in this paper, which make the installation equipment difficult to propel the aero-engine into the aero-engine installation cabin. Disadvantages appeared in the traditional installation process and matters occurred on the related equipment are discussed are proposed, which is on the basis of the present situation of aero-engine installation. In order to solve the problems happened in the traditional aero-engine installation, a new NC installation method is proposed which is based on digital image processing technology and digital control technology, and the theoretical installation trajectory of aero-engines is also analyzed.According to the new aero-engine NC installation method, the development work of aero-engine NC installation vehicle is carried out. Firstly, the design difficulties of aero-engine NC installation vehicle are analyzed, and the functional requirements of the vehicle are proposed. Then, two kinds of overall schemes for aero-engine NC installation vehicle are analyzed and compared, and the overall scheme of the vehicle is determined.In the light of the overall scheme and the functional requirements of aero-engine NC installation vehicle, the design of aero-engine NC installation platform is carried out. Firstly, three overall schemes of aero-engine NC installation platform are analyzed and compared to determine the whole layout scheme of the NC installation platform is determined. Then, all functional components of aero-engine NC installation platform are designed and compared, and finite element analysis of them is performed. Finally, according to the working principle of aero-engine NC installation platform, the realization method of the theoretical installation trajectory is analyzed and simulated to verify the feasibility of NC installation platform。The achievements of the research in this paper include not only a new NC installation method for the aero-engine installation, but also a NC installation platform for the development of CNC installation vehicle, which can meet the needs of NC mounting tracks. These investigations lay a good foundation for the development of aero-engine NC installation vehicle. More importantly, it provides a technical support for solving the current problems of aircraft digital assembly technical in the domestic.
