There are four common reinforced concrete structures:frame structure、frame-shearwall structure、shear wall structure and tube structures. With the increasing height ofthe buildings, the application of shear wall structure is wide. In recent years, greatcasualties and property loss caused by Wenchuan earthquake, Chile earthquake andYa’an earthquake, make many scholars and experts from various countries pay moreattentions to rare earthquake. Therefore, the seismic behaviour of shear wall underrare earthquake is concerned. At present, the size requirements of coupling beam andwall limb in our codes for design of shear wall can protect the coupling beamdamages before the wall limb under earthquake. But under rare earthquake, the orderof damage and failure mode are not discussed. This thesis mainly analyzed the order of damage and failure mode under rareearthquake, specific studies are as follows: this standard width of a room in this thesisare respectively4.2m,5.4m and7.2m, the thickness of the walls are0.2m, the heightof the walls are13.2m, select EL Centro wave simulate the7degree rare earthquake.Through changing the span-depth ratio of coupling beam and the depth-width ratio ofshear walls, use Abaqus analyze and simulate the seismic behavior of the shear wallunder rare earthquake:(1)the span-depth ratio of coupling beam in the range of0.5~5.0in the code, when the span-depth ratio of coupling beam is regular, analyzedifferent depth-width ratios of walls, find the criticality value that the coupling beamdamage firstly and the reasonable range of wall limb;(2) the span-depth ratio ofcoupling beam in the range of0.5~5.0in the code, different failure modes of thecoupling beam, find out the criticality value which the flexural failure and shearfailure of the coupling beams;(3) give some suggestions to the design of the shearwall under rare earthquake.Through the simulation and analysis of shear wall of seismic performance under the rareearthquake, it draws the following conclusions:(1) While the span-depth ratio ofcoupling beam is0.5, the beams damage firstly; When the ratio of coupling beam isrespectively1、2、3、4、5, the aspect ratio of wall is corresponding to less than1、1.2、 1.2、1.5、1.5. the coupling beams are damaged before the wall limb;(2) When thespan-depth ratio of coupling beam is smaller than3, the shear failure would happen inthe coupling beams; While the span-depth ratio of coupling beam is greater than or equalto3, the beam’s failure is flexural failure;(3)Through the above conclusions, in order toensure the coupling beams will happen bending failure, this paper suggests thespan-depth ratio of the shear wall should not be less than3. And when the span-depthratio of coupling beam respectively is3、4、5, the wall’s aspect ratio is corresponding toless than1.2、1.5、1.5.
