Crawler bulldozer is a self-shovel soil transport machinery, widely used in roadbuilding, construction, forestry, agriculture, water conservancy, mining and the building ofnational defense and other stonework earthworks, and is a typical construction machinerymodels. Crawler tractors can be adapted to a variety of different road conditions. Withperpect adhesion properties, it can play a greater traction.Travelling system is one of the most critical systems in the crawler bulldozer. It notonly support the weight of the vehicle when the vehicle is in motion and gently face theimpact of a vehicle body, which tend to have a high failure rate. So the research on crawlerbulldozer system has important theoretical and practical significance.Firstly, an introduction for crawler bulldozer of a various components of the systemand their simple strength calculation method, including the drive wheels, guide wheel, dragsprocket, road wheels, track, buffer tensioning device and suspension system. Travellingsystem track on ground pressure distribution are analyzed, and causes and size of the travelsystem traction and running resistance is calculated, also the walking system steeringmovements and behavior analysis. All above can provide a good theoretical basis for thecrawler bulldozer Kinematics and Dynamics Simulation and key components finiteelement analysis.In the purpose of shortening development cycles and reducing development costs forthe crawler bulldozer system, this paper use multi-body system dynamics theory and thevirtual prototype technologies, applying Recurdyn-software, in the sand road conditions,doing dynamic performance analysis of the crawler bulldozer bulldozing, steering, raisingover pits, climbing, walking conditions and slope with the system. The analysis resultsshow that the crawler bulldozer is not the same in the various conditions of the road wheelforce, and uneven performance on the track and bulldozers have a significant impact.Wheel by the maximum force appears when the bulldozer is under slippage. Another trackshoe width and grouser height of the vehicle slip ratio, find the appropriate increase intrack width and grouser track slippery turn can reduce the high loss of power. The resultsof this paper analyzes can be used as the reference of this type vehicle travelling systemdesign and research, and also a travel system components stiffness and strength check and structural improvements.Meanwhile, according to the process of crawler bulldozers’ specific use, travel systemis most prone to damage in finite element analysis. In order to avoid human error causedby boundary loading process, the paper takes the whole load, and then focus on the force ofthe walking frame results. The results show that the oblique support the local stress in thetravelling frame is mostly occuring structural damage, so it is recommended to thicken incase of damage.
