The road construction has been made greatly progress with the rapiddevelopment of economic and society since the21st century. New national highwaytraffic mileage increases every year, so vehicle handling stability and driving safetyput forward higher requirements. Frequency road traffic accidents caused people’sattention to the vehicle safety. So vehicle’s handing stability safety has becomeresearch focus. The operating bus is major transport for people’s travel, which playsan important role in the transportation of passengers. The road passenger capacityand passenger turnover quantity have been greatly enhanced with the continuingdevelopment of highway construction and operating bus manufacturing industry. Byschool bus safety, energy saves and environmental concerns, as well as bus priorityfactors, operating bus sales continue to increase. Operating bus and passenger carare significantly different in type of loading, structure and function, so researchoperating bus handing and stability is extremely important to reduce traffic accidentsand to protect human life and properly safety. It has become one of the importanttopic in the field of operating bus to study the dynamics of the operating bus andanalysis the vehicle running status parameters affect operating bus handling stability.The premise which to analysis the operating bus running status parameters arethat studies operating bus handling stability. Accurate information on operating busrunning status parameters plays a vital role to evaluate operating bus handlingstability. There are two general approaches to detect operating bus running statusparameters: based on the photoelectric sensors and based on the GPS system.1. Through the establishment of nonlinear dynamics model of operation bus, itprovides a theoretical basis for Matlab and Trucksim software simulation. TheExtended Kalman Filter is used to process the experimental data, this method canfilter out the noise of experimental data, better reflects the real state parameters andsimulate the curve of vehicle running parameters.2. This thesis bases on GPS technology and inertial measurement technology,structures operating bus running state detection system with VBOX seriesequipment as the core. Operating bus running state detection system includes VBOX3GPS data logger, RLVBIMU02gyroscope, steering wheel angle sensor,data acquisition module. It needs to calibrate and validate the experimentalequipments. Combined with actual situation, national and international standards todevelop stable circle test, double lane change test, slalom test. In addition to selectthe test vehicle speed under empty and fully loaded state.3. Tests gain operating bus centroid running parameters real values bypre-processing of the experimental data. The running parameters includelongitudinal velocity, lateral velocity, longitudinal acceleration, lateral acceleration,roll angle, yaw rate, side slip angle. The thesis shows some running parameters’simulation results through state estimation, and compares to real values andsimulation results. The running parameters changes are analyzed under different testconditions. Based on vehicle dynamics models, the roll angle and lateralacceleration curves have been simulated under empty and fully loaded state by usingMATLAB/Simulink. The thesis gains some parameters’ curves, according to theToyota Coaster bus whole-car parameters and set the appropriate Trucksimsimulation parameters. Those parameters’curves include steering wheel angle lateralacceleration, roll angle, yaw rate, side slip angle. The impact on operating bushanding stability between real values and simulation results will be studied. Itproves that the bus model and model parameters are effective, bus running statedetection system is practical and the test results are accurate.
