Recent years, the production mode of automobile industry in the world is changing from the traditional single variety, large quantities to many varieties, small batch. The production mode of producers as the leading is changing to the consumers as the leading. In order to adapt to this change, Soft manufacturing is put forward and widely used by almost every car factory. For years, car manufacturers have been chasing the dream of car soft manufacturing. Under the pushing of the flexible production and economic development, the competition form among the major automobile manufacturers in the car market is changing from the competitive of the cost, the price to the competitive of market adaptive capacity, the launching speed of the new product, product individuation.At present, mixed flow production is the one of the main features in the modern car production. Mixed flow assembly line can produce different kinds of products within a certain period and a production line. The variety of products can change with the customers’ demand. So it has been widely applied. By reading a lot of references, line balancing and production scheduling are the two mainly researching areas of car mixed flow production in the present research at home and abroad.At present, when the car enterprises are transforming the mixed flow line, they still transform the line according to the experience. They have only a few practical solutions to solve the problems of the mixed flow line balancing and production scheduling.Based on the study of mixed flow production system’s operation mode, characteristics and composition, analyze the weakness and the key technology of the mixed flow line. And the mathematical model according to the line balancing problem of mixed flow production line is built, put forward the improved differential evolution algorithm which has the adaptive operator. After reforming the mixed flow production line, the mathematical model according to the problem of mixed flow production scheduling is built, using the multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm to solve this problem. Through the above solution and simulation, the satisfactory results are achieved in the actual cases.It is proved that using MDE and PSO to solve the problems of the mixed flow production line balancing and the production scheduling have a good theory and practical value. This paper provides the further research and application with the theoretical basis and direction.
